Tory Lowe is a second-year doctoral student in the English department at Miami University. His areas of interest include early 20th century film culture and its intersections with literatures of the period; other interests include actresses and performance, queer theory, horror, and melodrama. His current research project draws from the work of Heather Love and Jack Halberstam to imagine lost films – specifically the career of early film star and sex symbol Theda Bara – through the lens of queer failure. Tory is also involved in Miami English Graduate Student and Adjunct Association, as well as various administrative roles within the English department.
